The Sarplaninac is a great guard for flocks but is not the best loved ones dog. The breed is not affectionate or loving even with their families. youngsters will be safe around them but not given much attention. This breed does not trust any strangers especially around their flock, which is the most important thing for this breed. This breed will not be pleased if they do not live on a farm with countless animals they are able to protect. living in the house or outside is good for this durable breed. They require plenty of physical exercise but will discharge it on their own by running around their rural houses and carrying out the job they were developed for.
This breed needs a whole lot of physical exercise. on a farm running free it will take treatment of its own physical exercise needs, however, if they are not actively working on a farm, they need to be used on a daily walk or jog.
Sarplaninac Dog Diseases
Sarplaninac is a generally healthy breed. The life expectancy is around 13 – 14 years.The proportions are not over-exaggerated in any way and therefore eye or breathing problems are rare. Most Sarplaninacs do not show signs of allergies towards foods. As they are small dogs, the breed has a very low incidence of hip dysplasia.
In the 1960s and 1970s there were problems with hyperkeratosis, a disease creating corny pads and severe pain. today it is widely known which dogs carried the disease and respectable breeders do not use those people bloodlines any more. A health study conducted by the Sarplaninac Club of America showed a greater-than-expected incidence of hypothyroidism and cataracts. There are not sufficient eye-checked people to draw any conclusions.
Sarplaninac Care Skill
1.Get your dog's ears checked regularly for excessive wax and mites, and ask your vet to pluck the hair from inside his ears. hair on his ft will require trimming occasionally.
